Versa takes your privacy very seriously. We know its fun using our mobile applications(the “Services”) to create and share videos through our Services and using third party social media services (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Vine) and we want to be transparent with you about what we are using your information for. This Privacy Policy describes how and when Versa collects, uses, and shares your information when you use Versa Services. Versa receives your information through our mobile applications, email notifications, and other interactions with our Services. When using any of our Services you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Irrespective of which country you reside in or supply information from, you authorize Versa to use your information in the United States and any other country where Versa operates.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you via an email to the email address associated with your account or through the Services. By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.


Information Collection and Use


Creating a Versa Account: When you create a Versa account, we need to collect some important information about you: your unique user name, a password, an email address we can contact you with, your mobile number, and your date of birth. You may optionally provide us with additional profile information, including a profile picture. You may update or modify your profile information and contact information at any time. Profile information is available publicly on our Services, such as on your profile page. We hope you Versa for a longtime, but we understand that you may need to close your account. We do reserve the right to retain certain information in backup for a certain period of time or as required by law.


Contact Information: In addition to using your contact information to create your account, we may use this information to send you information about our Services, respond to your requests and facilitate your use of the Services. We may use the contact information (such as your phone number or email address) to help connect you with other Versa users, even if that information is not publicly displayed. Some contact information may be required in order to use certain Services.


Device Address Book: Our Services include several features to help connect you to the accounts of people you already know. With your consent, we can upload information from your address book. Versa will match the information you provide with the contact information of other Versa users so you can seamlessly connect with contacts and enhance other functionalities of the Services. You may remove address book data from Versa at any time through the settings in your Versa app or by deleting the app.


Content, Following, and other Public Information: Versa has two modes for users to share their stories: Whisper and Converse.

  • Whisper is a private mode in which only the users invited during the initial creation of the video has access to view content and add additional content to the video. Videos created in Whisper mode can never be posted or shared to Social Media sites through Versa systems.
  • Converse is an open mode where additional Versa users can be added onto a conversation video subsequent to the creation and posting of the video. Videos created in Converse mode can be posted or shared to Social Media sites. All information, including the Content, the information about participants, the comments posted, the information regarding likes, and/or other public interactions, can be made public at anytime through the use of Social Media.


All videos are clearly identified as Whisper or Converse, and all participants in that video (i.e. contributor, creator, lurker), can be found in the video’s feed screen. All users should be aware of what Content and information can be shared publically.


Location Information: In addition to profile information, you may also tell us your exact location if you choose to enable your computer or mobile device to send us location information. We may use and store information about your location to provide features of our Services, such as tagging a video with a location, and to improve and customize the Services, for example, with Content that has been tagged near your location.


Links: We may keep track of how you interact with links across our Services, including our email notifications, third-party services, and client applications, by redirecting clicks or through other means. We do this to help improve our Services, for example to provide relevant advertising, and to be able to share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a particular link was clicked on.


Cookies: Like most online services, we use cookies, web beacons, and other technologies. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that store information about your use of the Services, which can, among other things, help us see which areas and features of the Services are popular and let us count visits. Web beacons are small pieces of software on a webpage or email that help us see how you interact with that webpage or email. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Keep in mind, though, that removing or rejecting cookies could affect the availability and functionality of our Services.


Log Data: Our servers automatically record information created by your use of the Services. This may include information such as your IP address, operating system, location, your mobile device number and application IDs, search terms, and cookie information. We receive this data when you interact with our Services, for example, when you visit mobile applications, sign into our Services, view videos, or interact with our email notifications. Versa uses this information to provide our Services and to measure, customize, and improve them. If not already done earlier, we will either delete this information or remove any common account identifiers, such as your username, full IP address, or email address, after 18 months.


Third-Party Services: We may let other companies use cookies, web beacons, and other technologies on Versa. These companies may collect information about how you use the Services and other websites and online services over time and across different services. The information collected may include unique device identifiers, device manufacturer and operating system, IP address, browser type, pages viewed, session start/stop time, links clicked, and conversion information. This information may be used to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, and better understand your online activity. How We Use Your Information


We may use your personal information and the usage information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy and the context of our relationship with you. We will use the personally identifying information collected from our Services for the following purposes:


  • To respond to your requests and to provide you with the Services;
  • To respond to your inquiries and contact you about changes to the Services;
  • To send you notices (for example, in the form of e-mails, mailings, and the like) regarding products or services you are receiving;
  • For any other purposes disclosed at the time the information is collected or to which you consent; and
  • As otherwise specifically described in this Privacy Policy.


How We Protect Your Information


We use a variety of methods including administrative, technical and physical measures designed to protect the personal information and the usage information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Please understand, however, that no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our databases, nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to and from us over the Internet.

Information Sharing and Disclosure


Your Consent: We may share or disclose your information at your direction, such as when you choose to publicly post a video or update your profile information.


Service Providers: We engage service providers to perform functions and provide services to us in the United States and abroad. We may share your private personal information with such service providers subject to confidentiality obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy.


Law and Harm: Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Policy, we may preserve or disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Versa’s rights or property. However, nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third party’s, including a government’s, request to disclose your information.


Business Transfers: In the event that Versa is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this Privacy Policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.


Modifying Your Personal Information


If you are a registered user of our Services, we provide you with tools and account settings to access or modify the profile information you provided to us and associated with your account.

Our Policy Towards Children


Our Services are not directed to persons under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account.
